I was fortunate to grow up in the beautiful country of South Africa. My childhood was spent in Johannesburg, a city made famous by gold, but what I most loved were the thunder storms. Almost every summer afternoon, storm clouds gather, black and heavy. You can smell the ozone in the air as you run for shelter before the rain comes pelting down. At first there are just a few drops, big and fat, splatting one by one on the ground, before they began to fall faster and faster. Lightening zigzags through the sky, and as children, we would count the seconds until we heard the thunder. The rain gathers in pools and runs in rivers down the road, sweeping along anything in it’s path, and then it … stops. Just like that, it is done. The clouds part, the sun comes out, and within minutes the water is steaming off the ground, and you heading back outside as though nothing even happened!

As a young adult, I moved to Cape Town, a city of incredible beauty nestled between Table Mountain and the ocean. But after only a few years I was off to England where I lived for three years before moving yet again – this time to Calgary, Canada, at the foot of the Canadian Rockies, where I have lived ever since.

As a child I was a bit of a loner, with my nose always buried in a book. I was the youngest in the family by seven years, which meant I spent many hours alone, and it was at these times that my imagination spun out the most fantastic tales – fairies, princes, and castles in the sky. I wrote down many of my imaginings, but it wasn’t until many years later, when I first wrote Bound by a Dragon, that I decided to share my writing with the world. I was amazed to find that people not only enjoyed what they read, but actually wanted more. What a privilege! I am so honored that you have read my book, and hope to bring you many, many more stories that  excite your imagination.

Since I’m an author, it probably isn’t surprising that I love to read, but I have a lot of other interests as well, especially travel. Over the years I have also played the piano, tried my hand at photography, done scrapbooking, and quilted – I even had an online quilting business for about eight years. With two teenage daughters I am often on the go, but my favorite way to relax is in the garden with a cup of iced coffee and a good book. Of course, I do live in Canada, so it is far more likely you’ll find me beside a burning fire with hot coffee and a good book (notice a theme here?)
